Put your hands on your waistline, and move your body to the bassline!
Friday I performed at school night with my friend Suze. We sang and played guitar, it was a lot of fun! The next day she threw a big birthday party so partying partying partying again!
Sunday I went with a group of friends to London Calling on Tour. There were 3 bands.
It started with John & Jehn, I totally disliked them, they sucked so much.
After that, Noah And The Whale, who were pretty good. Though it was a pity that Laura Marling wasn't there.
But I actually came for the band who played last, Late Of The Pier. And they rocked!
We even danced on stage with them!

Tribute to weirdness
Weirdness has kind of become Devendra’s trademark, so here it is, the new single ‘Adam and Steve’ from Devendra’s new band Megapuss (Devendra + Greg Rogove+ Fabrizio Moretti). And it’s full of weird dancing, crazy conversations, extraordinary outfits and more :D Watch it or die!
And since I’m already talking about Devendra, let’s just put a fab old video of him out here too:
And don't forget to dance!

applejuice

It started when one guy started screaming ugly words at me. I asked him to just shut up but he just went on with even more cruel words. So I said, let's handle this outside, while I rolled up my sleeves. Man, you should have seen me, I was hitting him like a masterboxer. He was all blue and red. But at the one moment I didn't pay attention he hit me in the eye. But I didn't care, because I had totally beaten his ass. If you only were there..
...Because if you really were there, you knew that I got hit by a girl that went stagediving with heels on. Her heel hit me right in the eye. Yeah, go ahead, laugh at me....;)
Anyway, it was a wonderful concert. And I was so happy they played a lot of songs from their previous albums. They just had so much energy, amazing!
At the end Kele just walked singing into the audience, and at the very end they all stagedived into the audience:D

Dance, Dance, Dance!
Here are some songs from 2 wonderful girls: Lykke Li & Laura Marling. I knew their music for some time when I saw them at lowlands festival, but I was surprised of how good they were live.
They both make wonderful music so I think you really should know them.
First up: the Swedish Lykke Li, who I'm going to see again in december:)
Lykke Li featuring the lovely Bon Iver (also worth listening) playing 'Dance Dance Dance'.
Lykke Li - I'm Good, I'm Gone

And next: Laura Marling. I think she's very talented. And very cute.
Laura Marling - Ghosts
Laura Marling - New Romantic

Pete, you're an ass and I love you
I went there with Suze, Tim, Matthijs and Bas, a couple of friends.
We started with Friska Viljor, and they were really good. I didn't expect that.
And I thought singer Joakim was really cute;) We saw him later on standing somewhere and me and Suze wanted to talk to him but we were too scared, so we stood next to him for about 5 minutes, and then I said 'Hey we think you're really great' and then we ran away:p
You probably couldn't see for the lights but you were staring straight at me;) Sweet Joakim.
Daniel from Friska Viljor.
Adam Green was also really cool! And he had the best dance moves ever^^ Go check it out on youtube!
I did got almost crushed, because there were so many people and there was a huge pit, but I didn't care actually;)
Soko and Adam Green also went on stage and sang Twist & Shout from the Beatles along with the Babyshambles. That was awesome:D I filmed it:
(you can find more videos of this on youtube)
Fuck Forever, their final song, was the best and I totally went nuts on my own (I lost my friends somewhere in the pit).
Soko was also absolutely amazing. She sang most of her songs with Kate Nash as backing vocals. She also sang a song with Adam Green called 'Babycat'. That was so funny, because Adam Green made catsounds in a very low voice. I filmed 'I wanna look like a tiger', also with Kate Nash:
Other pics:
Bas:)
Me and Suze with blueberryslushpuppietongues.
Me, Suze and Tim.
I've also seen: Kate Nash (terrible), The Dodos (mwah), The Mystery Jets (very cool!), Voicst (mwah), Pete philly & Perquisite (cool as always), Kaizers Orchestra (not in the mood for that), I am Kloot (only 1 song, but it sounded nice), Slagsmalsklubben (those nerds are great!), Pete & the Pirates (only wanted to hear Mr.understanding, so that's what I did), Boemklatsch (great, again)
It was a wonderful day!

Photographycamp & Lowlands!!
I've been to a photographycamp, Buitenkunst. It was amazing! I made a lot of nice photos and the critique on them by the teachers was really good. I'll post those the next couple of days on my flickr, and I'll post some photos that I made on my holiday (there are already about 4 of them on it). Check them out if you like!
I've also been to Lowlands, which was sooooo cool:D:D
I went with Matthijs, Tim and Jasper, a couple of friends of mine.
The highlights: MGMT, Franz Ferdinand, Laura Marling, Pete Philly & Perquisite, Lucky Fonz III, Editors and morrreee..
Some pics I made with a crappy camera:
Beer & weirdness:D
Smokin' Jap.
Saskia and Jorinde, two girls I met at Lowlands
After I saw the show of The Kooks in the biggest tent of lowlands, I went with Saskia and Jorinde to the Magneetbar, a little bar where you can sign up to perform an act yourself. When we came, we saw someone playing who looked and sounded a lot like Luke Pritchard, the singer of The Kooks. But we thought that it couldn't possibly be him. Afterwards it turned out that it really was him, and I was only about 2 metres away from him :o
Laura Marling, a female singer/songwriter who I completely adore, she's so good.
Has one of you been to Lowlands?
O, school is almost gonna start. I have about 5 days left...:(
Saturday I'm going to de Beschaving, a festival, I'm excited:D

HOLIDAY!

Songs for today
And these are the rules:
List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now, shaping your summer. Post these instructions in your blog along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they’re listening to.
Well and here are my 7 songs:
Fleet Foxes – White Winter Hymnal
Friska Viljor – Shotgun Sister
Kings of Leon – Milk
MGMT – Electric Feel
The Shins – Pink Bullets
Yeasayer – 2080
Russian Red - Gone, Play on
But that's just today. Tomorrow this list can look a lot different. Music I love changes everyday, but my love for music never changes.
O and here are my tagged people: hold-in-your-breath, discothequeconfusion, anothernewthing, simplyolive, velvet-pony, rubyverhoeven and ambirdart

Vampire Weekend!
So remember this name: Vampire Weekend.
Though the name might sound kind of goth, it’s the total opposite. This Indie band from New York makes very happy music, with a lot of African tunes mixed into it. Every song begins with a catchy intro, from classical violins to wicked guitars. And then you’ll find yourself in a paradise of fantastic riffs, freaky tunes and wonderful lyrics. From the first second of the album till the last you’ll have a smile on your face.
They sure made my 2008 begin wonderfully!
Best songs: Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa & M79 (every song is great actually)
A-Punk:
M79 (secret session in Columbia university):

Alela Diane
I don't know if you've ever heard of this girl from Nevada City, but she's amazing.
She's a singer-songwriter who makes beautiful folk songs with a slightly country feeling.
Her songs never sound happy, but it's not that they sound sad, it's a mood inbetween which you can only grasp if you listen to it.
I don't have the time right now to tell you more about her, because I'm going to get some chinese right now and watch my father's new woodstock dvd (which I gave him for his birthday today) and then were going to Alela Diane!
Enjoy:

I want one!
Do you recognise this sentence?
Well I certainly do, I've been told many times.
I don't know why, because I can drum on tables pretty well, if I say so myself.
But that's all over now, because some sweethearts have thought of a table especially made to drum on!
The percussion tables (the Musical Rumba Series) are available in different sizes and you can rearrange all the percussion inserts whenever you want.
There's only one problem. The tables are way too expensive.
Prizes go from $800-2900.
Would anyone like to sponsor me?

(this guy totally sucks at it, really)

HI
I’m Cleo, and I’ve just started this blog, called Girl under the sea.
I was thinking of writing a fun kind of story yesterday to post as a first post, in which I would tell you about how I think about some things, and it would be very funny and immediately grab your attention so you would continue reading this blog.
But today I thought that maybe it is a better idea to just start of with introducing myself and telling you what this blog will be about(don’t be sad, those stories will come later on, I think).
So, as I said, my name is Cleo and I’m a 16-year-old girl.
I live in the Netherlands (if anyone not Dutch is reading this -> yes, we have tulips here. No, almost nobody wears clogs).
My hobbies are playing guitar, dancing, acting and drawing.
I’m also very interested in music and photography.
I’ve started photography more than a half year ago and I’m trying to get better in it. So that’s a hobby too, of course. I’ve started playing guitar also a half year ago, or maybe a bit earlier.
I’m not that good at it yet, but I will be one day.
I also like to go to the theatre, concerts and museums.
What’s this blog going to be about:
- Music All sorts and styles, as long as I like it. (I especially like singer-songwriters, funky stuff, innovative bands) And maybe I will post my own music later on, because I’m trying to make a short songJ
- Art Great photographers, great painters, great expositions etc. I’m not sure yet if I’m going to post my own drawings. But you will not find my photography here, if you would like to see it, click on the link on the site that says 'my flickr'
- Fashion Fashion shows I like, my own outfits
- Other Theatre shows/concerts I went to, fun websites, nonsense and everything else.
I’m sure I’ve forgotten some things but you will notice that if you read it!
Enjoy!
Here are some of my favourite songs to warm you up (though I’ve got millions of favourite songs):
The Shins – Pink Bullets
Great lyrics, wonderful song.
Damien Rice - Dogs
So sweet and beautiful.
Interpol – Rest My Chemistry
I’ll promise, this song will stick in your head.
The Beatles – I am the walrus
I like the text, because most of it is nonsense. Btw, they wrote it on an acid trip.
John Frusciante - Murderers
You just can’t deny that this is just the tastiest riff you’ve ever heard.
bye bye
